Registration
Programs
IBCOL 2024 offers 2 programs: a competition for contestants and an observers program.
Eligibility
Eligible participants must be either current or recent students from high school, college, or university. Teams have a maximum size of six individuals, and may not be more than 50% identical to another team. Eligible participants may become observers.
Representation
Contestants may represent countries in IBCOL 2024. A contestant may represent a country of their choice by birthright, citizenship or PR, academic affiliation, or academic nomination. If a contestant is stateless, the IBCOL-24CC may assign a country for the contestant to represent.
Process
Contestant Teams must register by Friday 30 August 2024 and Observer Delegations must register by Monday 30 September 2024.
Project Deliverables
Competition Categories
Teams separate their projects into 3 categories based on the categories of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Guides
Teams may use the following structure to guide the project conception and development: Problem Statement, States-of-the-Art Overview, Solution Overview, Solution Design, and Challenges.
Material Submissions
Teams may submit a proposal slide deck, a whitepaper in IEEE conference format, an optional video file, and a poster for finalists.
Submissions Deadline
If contestants come from countries with IBCOL Organizing Committees, the materials must be submitted to them. Otherwise, they will be directly to the IBCOL 2024 Registrar Office. Contestants must submit their proposal deck and whitepaper by SAT 31 AUG 2024.
Evaluation
Criteria
Teams shall be evaluated by a common foundation framework: 40% Commercial Depth, 30% Technical Depth, 20% Presentability, 10% Originality.
Process
Contestants will be evaluated by Adjudicators. Candidates will be invited to IBCOL 2024. Finalists who accept the invitation will travel to The Netherlands for the IBCOL 2024 Finals.
IBCOL 2024 Finals
The IBCOL 2024 Finals are held in The Randstad region of The Netherlands.
Travel to Europe
If you require a Schengen Visa, you may consider to register as an Observer and request the supporting documentation that may assist with the application process.
Pre-Competition Activities
Activities have been prepared for before the IBCOL 2024 Finals to enrich the experience of participants and prepare them for a higher level of competition at the main event.
Competition Activities
The IBCOL 2024 Finals are held on Thursday 21 November and Friday 22 November at the campus of Hogeschool InHolland, in Amsterdam.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medal Awards, as well as Awards of Distinction, Merit, and Recognition, based on the SDG categories.
Criteria Awards
Awards for Commercial Depth, Technical Depth, Presentability, and Originality.
Consensus Awards
Awards for the Most Impactful Project, Most Sustainable Project, Most Sophisticated Project, and Most Ambitious Project, based on participation at the IBCOL 2024 finals.
